Welcome to the College Prep Blog! Seniors, you are going to share your beast fable or exemplum with me and the rest of C.P. though this blog, so we can all get a chance to post a comment. Electronically, we will travel to our own "Canterbury" together!
Remember, a beast fable is like Chaucer's tale of the Chanticleer. It should use animals and their traits to symbolize personalities, and to tell a tale that comments on modern life, with a moral, as the Nun's Priest's Tale does. Your other choice is an exemplum, where you use a story involving modern characters that has a very serious message. As in the Pardoner's Tale, the characters may mostly miss the point, but the reader should be able to understand the moral without being told directly.
Beside posting your own story, you are required to post a comment or two for the stories of at least 5 of the other students in either class (5th or 6th). Please be specific and helpful, and sign your name to the posting! Have your story posted by October 5; the comments should be posted by Oct. 15. Have a good time on this electronic pilgrimage! I hope this helps you understand exactly what beast fables and exemplums are!
